The Millennium Stadium in Cardiff is associated with rugby and as the venue for an occasional concert, but this July it played host to over 1000 Brownies from all parts of Wales. Brownies from Gwent took this opportunity to experience the stadium in an innovative way – by sleeping overnight. Many groups added to the excitement by traveling to Cardiff by train and eating out at one of the city’s many restaurants. Once inside the stadium the Brownies were entertained and encouraged to participate by girls from a local theatre group, Ascendance, dressed as Disney princesses, singing songs from the films. A tribute band for One Direction also performed and girls could show off their moves at a disco. The next morning the girls could try their hand at a variety of circus skills before making their way back home. A great way to celebrate a birthday – especially 100 years.
