Draw or collage your favourite mythical creature and make it into a stained glass window

Equipment – paper, tissue paper cut up into roughly 2cm pieces) or cellophane sweetie wrappers, pva glue, a polypocket

Draw or print off a favourite creature make it even more fantastic or be a Magical, mythical creature yourself  – Are you a brave lion, intelligent owl, playful panda or a mixture of all three? Reimagine yourself as a mythical creature with magical powers to match

Very carefully cut it out, leaving the edges uncut – this is the “window frame”

Place your window frame ontop of the polypocket and brush pva glue over the paper and the polypocket (great fun!)

Lay the tissue paper or cellophane, overlapping, over the “window pane” and on the paper so it is all covered and leave to dry.

Once it is all dry gently peal the paper off the polypocket and it should look like a stained glass window. Pin up on your window to let the light shine through.

Raise awareness of a real animal

Some animals are so amazingly adapted that they look like they could be a fantasy one. Here are some – seahorse, duckbilled platypus, hummingbird, elephant seal, axolotl, pangolin

Choose one (or one of your own!) and create a fact file about them or a poster highlighting the environmental pressures on them.

Create a habitate

Does your favourite real creature live in a jungle, forest, desert? Recreate their habitat – you could use either a shoe box, cardboard box, in the garden or in a washing up bowl, anywhere where you can make a great habitat for your favourite animal.

Is it Dobby? Grogu from the Mandalorian? Gollum from the hobbit? Aslan from Narnia? Captain Hook or Peter Pan? Trolls? Maleficent? The BFG? Stitch? The list is as endless as your imagination!

Explore your favourite characters or make up your own – create a poster with facts about them and let us know all about them.

Create a sock puppet of your favourite film creature

Create your house elf name

Use your first three letters of your birth month and last three letters or your first name. Do it for all your family members – let us know what they are!

Draw yourself as your favourite film creature

Create a comic strip or stop start animation

Using any fantasy creature you have – use iMovie or create a stop start animation of your favourite bit in your favourite film – or create an alternative film version

Create a lava special lighting effect for a fantastic creature

Equipment – A clean plastic bottle, try to use one with smooth sides

Water; or a tall glass or jam jar; Vegetable Oil (or you could use Mineral or Baby Oil instead);Fizzing tablets (such as Alka Seltzer, vitamin C fizzy tablets or bath bombs ); Food Colouring

Fill the bottle up about 1/4th (1 quarter) with water.

Pour the vegetable oil in the bottle until is almost full. You may want to use a measuring cup with a spout or a funnel. You may have to wait a couple of minutes for the oil and water to separate.

Add a few drops of your favourite food colouring. Watch as the colour sinks through the oil. Did your drops of colour mix with the water immediately or float in between for a few minutes?

Break your fizzy tablet in half and drop part of it into the bottle. Get ready … here come the bubbly blobs!

You can even get a flashlight, turn off the lights and drop in another half tablet. This time shine the flashlight through the lava lamp while the blobs are bubbling!
