3rd Chepstow Brownies think Chepstow residents should clean up their act!

13 Brownies together with their leaders walked for an hour and a half through Chepstow and collected 10 full bags of rubbish! The girls started in Bulwark behind the Severn Bridge Club and collected 4 bags in the car park alone before deciding to move on through the woods into Garden City. Using the litter pickers, bags and hoops supplied by MCC Cleansing Department, the girls aged between 7 & 10 collected and sorted the litter along the way. The group had intended to walk down through town and up the Dell alongside the castle but had to cut their route short because they ran out of time due to the amount of litter they discovered along the way. The girls were shocked by the amount of rubbish they collected and felt that ‘a lot must have been dropped by adults as there were so many cigarette ends and beer cans’

The  girls have been working towards their Star Challenge badge, (to celebrate the Big Brownie Birthday – 100th birthday 2014) and the litter pick helped to fulfil the “Community Star” clause, in that we were providing a service to our local community.

The girls worked hard and enjoyed the litter pick almost as much as the squash and biscuits afterwards!
