It was the one that Guides from all over Wales had been waiting for – the next biannual camp on the Royal Welsh Show-ground. This year there were even some units from over the border in England!
Many units from Gwent took the opportunity to attend the large scale camp and meet girls from other counties. A huge range of activities was again available including fencing, climbing, water slides, circus skills, musical workshops, craft, singing, birds of prey and zorbing. However, highlight of the weekend was a challenge – all Guides like challenges – to get into the Guinness Book of Records. This involved the most number of people taking part in an umbrella dance. Day visitor Brownies helped swell the number to 1468 dancers – a colourful array of umbrellas was provided and the challenge was met with the help of a team of Senior Section members who choreographed the dance. Well done record breakers!
